Integrative medicine is physician-led care that combines conventional diagnosis and prescription medicine with evidence-based nutrition, lifestyle and natural therapies to treat the root causes of illness. At TrueMedMD in Davie, Jeffrey Dach, MD has practiced integrative medicine in Florida since 2005, focusing on hormone balance, thyroid disease, digestive health and nutrient deficiencies.

Unlike a quick primary-care visit, an integrative evaluation looks at how your hormones, thyroid, gut, nutrition, sleep and stress interact. Dr. Dach spent 25 years as a board-certified radiologist in the Memorial Hospital system in South Broward before moving to natural and integrative medicine, so your plan is built on conventional medical training, not instead of it. Treatment may include bioidentical hormone replacement therapy, natural thyroid treatment, targeted nutrients and prescription medications when they are the right tool.
How is integrative medicine different from functional or conventional medicine? Conventional medicine usually matches a diagnosis to a drug. Functional medicine searches for the underlying cause through testing. Integrative medicine uses both: we order and interpret advanced labs, then combine prescription treatment with nutrition and lifestyle care. Read Dr. Dach’s guide on how to choose a functional medicine doctor for hormone health.
Every plan starts with a full history, a physical exam and laboratory testing through Quest and Labcorp, plus functional tests such as MRT food-sensitivity and GI-FX stool panels when needed. From there, care is tailored to you. The most common integrative treatments at our Davie clinic are:
Bioidentical estradiol, natural progesterone and testosterone for menopause, perimenopause, PMS and PCOS, including estrogen replacement therapy and testosterone replacement therapy for men.
Natural desiccated thyroid (NDT), T3/T4 balancing, reverse T3 testing, iodine and selenium for hypothyroidism, Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Graves' disease.
Gut repair, food-sensitivity testing and correction of vitamin and mineral deficiencies through our digestive health and nutrient specialist programs. Low-dose naltrexone (LDN) may be considered for autoimmune and inflammatory conditions – see what LDN is and who may benefit.
Comprehensive panels that go beyond routine labs – full thyroid panel, sex hormones, vitamin D, iron, iodine and metabolic markers. See our medical testing in Florida and the lab tests you need before starting hormone therapy.
For breast cancer survivors, we offer bioidentical hormones after breast cancer and education on repurposed medications in cancer care, always coordinated with your oncologist.
Integrative medicine helps by testing for the hidden drivers of fatigue – low thyroid function, falling estrogen, progesterone or testosterone, cortisol imbalance and nutrient deficiencies – and then treating each one directly. Many patients arrive with “normal” labs and ongoing symptoms because a standard panel checks only TSH.
Dr. Dach explains why a normal TSH doesn’t always mean a healthy thyroid and why some people are still tired on levothyroxine. We also look at the adrenal–thyroid link (see adrenal fatigue vs thyroid dysfunction) and at weight gain from hormonal changes after 40. Whether you are in perimenopause, managing Hashimoto’s, or a man with symptoms of low testosterone, treatment is adjusted from follow-up labs, not guesswork.
Typical timeline
Benefits: The main benefits patients report are steadier energy, better sleep, clearer thinking, fewer menopause symptoms and a plan that treats causes rather than masking symptoms. Integrative care also supports chronic disease prevention – heart health, blood sugar and bone density – through hormones, nutrition and lifestyle together.
Risks and who should not rely on it alone: Integrative treatments carry real risks and need monitoring: hormone therapy can cause breast tenderness, spotting or fluid retention, and thyroid medication that is too strong can cause palpitations or anxiety. That is why every prescription here is matched to lab results and rechecked. Integrative medicine is not a substitute for emergency or acute hospital care; if you have chest pain, stroke symptoms or a severe infection, call 911 or go to the nearest ER. Patients with active cancer should keep their oncologist as lead physician.
Who it is right for: It is a good fit if you have ongoing fatigue, menopause or andropause symptoms, thyroid disease that hasn’t responded to standard treatment, digestive problems, or you simply want a prevention-focused physician who has time to listen.
Experience: Dr. Dach earned his MD as a James Scholar at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, completed radiology residency at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s in Chicago and a fellowship at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. He then practiced for 25 years with Radiology Associates of Hollywood at Memorial Regional Hospital before founding TrueMedMD in Davie in 2005. Read his full background or his curriculum vitae.
Authority: He is the author of Bioidentical Hormones 101, Natural Thyroid Toolkit, Cracking Cancer Toolkit and Heart Book (see all books), has published in JAMA and AJR, and has lectured at the International College of Integrative Medicine. His patient-education library at jeffreydachmd.com has been read by patients worldwide for nearly two decades.
Trust and team: TrueMedMD is physician-owned and receives no pharmaceutical-industry funding. You work with a small, consistent team – Dr. Dach, holistic nurse Susan Rothman and office manager Stephanie – who answer calls and emails between visits. Patients travel from Miami-Dade, Palm Beach and across Florida; see our pages for integrative medicine in South Florida, Miami and Orlando.
Integrative medicine is physician-led care that combines conventional medicine with evidence-based nutrition, hormone, lifestyle and natural therapies to treat the root cause of symptoms, not just the symptoms.
Functional medicine focuses on finding root causes through testing. Integrative medicine includes that testing but also uses prescription drugs, bioidentical hormones and conventional treatments when they help. Dr. Dach practices both.
Common conditions include menopause and perimenopause symptoms, low testosterone, hypothyroidism, Hashimoto’s, Graves’ disease, fatigue, digestive problems, PCOS, insulin resistance and nutrient deficiencies.
TrueMedMD is out of network with insurance plans, so visits are self-pay. Lab tests through Quest or Labcorp are often billed to your insurance, and many patients use HSA or FSA funds.
You receive attentive, experience-driven care that blends functional medicine, natural therapies, and lifestyle guidance, all delivered with respect for your individuality, values, and personal wellness journey.

I have trusted Susan, the holistic nurse, in Dr. Dach’s practice since 2009. She is unfailingly well-informed, honest, and professional. Her regular phone calls to just check on my progress and ask if I have any concerns are welcome and always a source of comfort. Anytime I have questions, she reviews all sorts of options with me. There is no other doctor or medical professional in my life that matches this level of faithful, regular, sincere care. I am thankful for Susan and give her my highest recommendation and all my appreciation.Posted on Google![]()

A friend suggested that I pay Dr. Dach a visit because, like her, I spent years on thyroid medication that didn't work for me. Not only did he fix my thyroid problem, but he found the root cause of the whole mess of my problems. Now I am very healthy and some of my allergies even went away. Dr. Dach spent a lot of time with me, not only diagnosing, but mostly informing me why these problems exist and how to take care of them. He is always studying and writing articles and books and he is extremely knowledgable. Anytime I need anything, the staff, Stephanie, and nurse Susan are quick to respond. They are very nice and caring and give all the time and effort needed to make sure everything goes well for me. Several of my friends have now seen Dr. Dach and they are very happy about it. I continue to recommend him. I feel very fortunate to have found this practice.Posted on Google![]()

I’ve been working with Dr. Dach and his staff for 12 years now. Maybe a bit longer. We do bloodwork every six months, and tackle any issues that may arise as they patiently and thoroughly walk me through every analysis. My work takes me all over the world, but Dr. Dach and his staff, particularly Susan, his wonderfully responsive holistic nurse, are always able to get any meds needed to wherever I may find myself. I love the individual, customized attention, and have never felt so on top of my health as I have these last dozen years. I appreciate the alternatives to typical prescription meds they find, the quick response time, and the friendliness with which they conduct every correspondence. Cannot recommend the office highly enough. I know Dr. Dach and Susan the best, but they are all just the kindest people.Posted on Google![]()

Stephanie, the office manager, Susan, the holistic nurse, and Jennifer, the doctor who treats me all do an excellent job and work with you on a personal level. They are always available for assistance via email or calls and also are very mindful about the patients personal situations. They truly want the best for you and your health. Give them your effort and commitment as a patient and it will pay off tremendously.Posted on Google![]()
